Second closure order secured to prevent further antisocial behaviour at Newquay property

It will now be illegal for anyone to enter a residential property in Newquay after it became a hub for relentless antisocial behaviour (ASB) in the community.

A full three-month closure order was issued to an address located on East street; this follows a partial closure order issued at the same address back in October 2025.

Officers secured this new measure after behaviour continued to significantly impact the wellbeing of nearby residents, with reports of constant shouting, large gatherings, noise disturbances, swearing and suspected drug use.

There were also reports of rubbish and animal faeces left in and around the area.

Inspector Steve Johnson said: “The location had been a focal point for much community tension because of the ASB associated with it and those occupying it, which had a real impact on the wellbeing of local people. 

“The order served last year meant only the tenant was allowed to enter and reside at the property, but after this was not complied with, we had to escalate our approach.  

“By working with local residents and partner agencies we have been able to remove the tenants, close the premises and protect residents from further harm.

“I hope this shows local people the importance of their reports and that our teams will not stand by and let this behaviour like this continue.”

The tenant impacted by this order has been signposted to relevant support services while the order is in place.

The closure order was granted on Tuesday 27 January as a result of an investigation carried out by the Newquay Neighbourhood Police team and Cornwall Council’s ASB Caseworker.
