Weekly update from the South Yardley Neighbourhood policing team. |

|
Dear Members, Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team. This week has been positive with engaging with the community. We have conducted some Home visits to support vulnerable persons. 26 tickets have been issued this week alone by officers to vehicles relating to parking matters. Which we know if a huge concern to all in the community. Again, these will be in the post to those inconsiderately parking. We did seize one vehicle for parking, due to it causing an obstruction to local businesses whereby, HGVs were struggling to get into loading bays. We worked closely with the businesses to conduct this, and this will be no longer affecting them or their drivers going forward. We have further seized 3 vehicles either for stolen vehicles, no Tax or SORN on the road. We have conducted our monthly Get Connected meetings with partners discussing concerns, issues in the area with any prevent measures we are taking. In addition, this has opened more opportunities to organise more events for the local community, and we are excited to get this running. Keep your eyes peeled and we will share all details. A coffee morning was on at Community Hub in Heybarnes, the DNOs PC SMITH and PC DODD attended and spoke with many in attendance, and we were fortunate and privileged to meet a fellow officer who joined the Police before it became West Midlands Police and was known as Police of Birmingham. It was great to exchange how much things have changed and evolved as we go through the years. We are thankful to Shelia for her service as it was a very different time to policing in those days and we took away so much. You can see us both pictured with Sheila below. Business Watch is continuing to grow across South Yardley, and we have attended to more businesses this week to obtain details, and we are excited to get them on board and involved to prevent further harm to local businesses, working in partnership. There are a few important updates for you all to be aware of and that is the Residents Meeting taking place at Smokey Barrells, Coventry Road on Saturday 21st February between 1600-1800. Including Empowered Steps will be Thursday 26th February at 1200 in Oaklands Recreational Ground behind the Skate park. (Posters below) Furthermore, there is a campaign for Firearms Amnesty. This runs from 02/02/26-27/02/26 all details of this can be found in the poster attached. If you have any further questions or concerns on this, please do contact us on the below details. West Midlands Police have launched a new ASB survey which is a new campaign Action on ASB. This is important for all members of South Yardley aim to complete this survey to ensure we are looking at all issues in the area and beyond. This will capture your thoughts and concerns, and this is in partnership with the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. We need your help to help us tackle this problem and we will be able to adopt our approached accordingly.
