Yesterday, officers from the South and North Acton SNT worked together to carry out targeted patrols and enforcement activity in response to community intelligence and resident reports of drug related activity and antisocial behaviour within residential blocks and parks.
Earlier in the day, officers reviewed information relating to suspected drug dealing taking place at Berrymead Gardens, which informed patrol activity for the area. Later, police were called by residents reporting that non residents were inside the block of Amethyst Court and that the communal entrance had been deliberately propped open, allowing unrestricted access and causing concern for residents.
On attendance, officers entered the communal areas and challenged individuals found loitering within the stairwell. One individual was searched and issued with a Community Protection Warning (CPW) for loitering within a residential block and was directed to leave, preventing further antisocial behaviour.
During the same visit, officers encountered a second individual whose behaviour raised further suspicion. Following a search, officers seized 289 wraps of suspected Class A drugs, believed to be linked to drug supply activity. The individual was arrested and taken into custody, where enquiries remain ongoing.
Why this matters The misuse of communal residential spaces for drug activity has a direct impact on residents’ safety and quality of life. This activity demonstrates our continued commitment to our communities:
We continue to work closely with housing providers and partner agencies to address access and security issues and prevent repeat offending.
If you have concerns about drug dealing or antisocial behaviour in your area, please report it. Your information helps us take action where it matters. |
