We have today received a concern from a member of the public that there was a male going door to door in the Walton area today .

We did carry out hi viz patrols but no-one was located .

Creating a Sense of Urgency: Stating there is an emergency, such as a gas leak or water main break, requiring immediate access.

Offering Unsolicited Services: Proposing repairs, maintenance, or home improvements you did not request.

Distraction Techniques: Working in pairs—one distracts you while the other enters your home.

How to Protect Yourself

Follow these steps to stay safe:

Always Use a Door Chain or Viewer: Before opening the door, check who is outside.

Ask for Identification: Genuine callers will always carry official ID. Examine it carefully—do not be rushed.

Verify Their Identity: Call the company
