Monthly Community Update from Sgt Allen – January 2026 |
||
|
Hello Resident,
I hope this message finds you well. As we move into February, I wanted to share a quick round-up of what’s been happening across our local area, what’s coming up, and how we’re working together to keep our community safe and thriving.
🔍 Local Priorities Our current focus areas include: We’re continuing patrols and targeted operations in these areas, and welcome any feedback or concerns you’d like to raise. These priorities are sent in conjunction with the public via our priority setting meetings. The next one is in April and can be found in the dates below. On top of this, you can see our priorities and updates on each priority via the WMP website: Bordesley Green | Your area | West Midlands Police | West Midlands Police (Under the ‘our priorities’ section)
🔍 Awareness We are seeing a small rise in Burglaries and theft of vehicles within our patch. We will be out completing surgeries for crime prevention and visiting specific areas with reassurance, advice and support.
However please note the following:
For Burglaries:
I would advise that people are:
Wary of what information they share with who and where that information is shared ie social media. Don’t be flaunting your wealth
Wary of anyone who asks to enter the home posing as a service such as British gas etc – Always check ID and call there office to verify (they should also be in uniform and a marked vehicle)
Ensure all doors and windows are locked. Consider anti snap locks to be fitted
If you can, invest in CCTV (Front and rear) and motion lights to deter
If able, don’t store high value gold etc in the home. Invest in a safety deposit box or other secure (Insured) service
If you see anything suspicious such as vehicles that appear to be watching or people, report these to police
For thefts of vehicles and cannabilism:
We are noticing maninly Fords and Toyotas being targeted. If you own one of these vehicles ensure that they are kept in a secure location
If your vehicle is a keyless entry - Keep your key and spare in a faraday bag to prevent a relay theft
🤝 Partnership Working We’ve been working closely with: These collaborations are helping us respond more effectively and holistically to community needs.
🧑🤝🧑 Community Involvement Thank you to everyone who’s taken part in: Your involvement makes a real difference. If you’d like to get involved, please reach out!
🎉 Upcoming Events We’d love to see you there—these events are a great way to connect and share ideas.
I am looking into the use of our Cuppa with a Coppa. They are usually low traffic however from the residents that do come to these, we are able to gather so much information that informs our work. Following feedback, i am trialling an evening one over at Saltley Wellbeing on the 11th February. I am looking to host another at the Khidmat Centre and i am waiting to hear back from them. I would love a large turn out where we can listen to your concerns and then put forward what we are going to do about it. Ultimately, we cannot possibly work on an issue if we don't know about it. Often people assume that someone else will have definitely reported it to us but i can tell you that is not the case! So please attend, even if it is for five minutes.
Likewise with the priority setting meeting. It is a drop in service which is why it is for a few hours. It allows for better discussion but also hopefully better attendance. These directly inform what our priorities are going to be for the following four months. The priorities above were set in this way and run until April. Please put this in you diary and push for as many residents attending as possible.
Neighbourhood policing is all about partnership working. The most important partnership being between ourselves and the community we serve. Please work with us
🗞️ Round-Up Here’s a snapshot of key updates across our patch: Continuing to ticket vehicles we have upwards of over 50 issued. I am working to track the exact figures and will share this regularly.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement. Stay safe and take care,
Sgt Allen | ||
