Devon & Cornwall Coordinators Winter Update |
||||||||||||
Hello everyone,and welcome to the second quarterly update for Devon and CornwallI hope you can grab a cuppa and have a read through. January has been a stormy one across both counties, and it looks set to continue for a little while yet. Hopefully this update offers a calm moment and a friendly check-in.
![]() 2025: The Year in NumbersLooking back over the past year, it’s been a busy one (and not just in mileage!). We’ve run 3 social media campaigns, had 1 TV feature, attended 40 events and talks, 43 of you attended our Cyber/Loan Shark webinar, and the best bit- 653 new members have joined Neighbourhood Watch!
![]() Looking Ahead: Our 2030 StrategyWe’ve recently shared a new Neighbourhood Watch Strategy to 2030. It’s about keeping things realistic, inclusive and people-focused – supporting coordinators better, strengthening partnerships, and making sure Neighbourhood Watch continues to fit real communities, not the other way around
![]() Planning for the Future: Succession ToolkitWe know coordinator roles change over time, and that’s completely normal. To help with that, the Coordinator Succession Toolkit is now live on the Neighbourhood Watch Knowledge Hub. It’s there to make stepping back, sharing roles or handing over feel easier and less daunting – no urgency, just support when you need it.
![]() Activity Ideas: Keep It SimpleIf you’re looking for gentle, sociable ways to bring people together, the Activity Ideas section of the Knowledge Hub is worth a look. Ideas like CommuniTEA are about connection, not perfection – a cuppa, a chat, and a chance for neighbours to feel a bit more known. Take what works, leave what doesn’t. You can tell us about your own activities by using the form below:
![]() A HUGE Thank You to Bernie WattersWe want to say a heartfelt thank you to Bernie Watters, who is retiring as Truro & District Coordinator in March, after more than 10 years. Bernie also run Cornwall’s Feel Safe scheme, supporting many people along the way. His care, commitment and calm presence will be hugely missed – and warmly appreciated.

I’m Here to Support YouJust a quick note to say I’m still here and sticking around. We’ve had confirmation that my role is funded for the next two years across Devon and Cornwall, so I’m very much around to help and support however I can. Whether you’ve got a question, an idea, or just want to talk something through, please do get in touch: steph.good@ourwatch.org.uk .
Thank you, as always, for everything you do and for your continued support. Please take care of yourselves, look out for one another, and stay safe out there – especially with the weather doing its thing.
Steph x
