Intervention by Camberwell Green PCSOs

PCSOs Danny Cloud & Juliana Alake from your Camberwell Green team were on local patrol and talking to a member of the community when they noticed a man outside a branch of Greggs throwing objects into the shop. The officers made their way towards the danger while summoning back up from colleagues. The man ran away as they approached but the officers ran after him and managed to contain and detain him safely until police officers arrived. It transpired that the man was suffering from severe Acute Behavioural Disturbance (ABD) which is a life-threatening medical emergency characterized by extreme agitation, delirium, and physical strength, often linked to drug use or acute mental illness. It requires immediate medical intervention.

The hospital consultant fed back that the man was in a very bad way and that Danny & Juliana may well have saved his life because his heart rate was so high which could have resulted in death or massive organ failure.
