Cold Callers.

Once again I am contacting you to make you aware that we have had door to door sellers operating in your area. We have had callers to residential properties trying to sell household items such as dusters and tea-towels. The sellers are often over confident and very pushy as they try to sell you over priced items. The whole experience can leave people feeling very uncomfortable. Please follow the following advice. You don't have to open the door to anyone you don't know or not expecting.

STOP - Are you expecting anyone?

LOCK- Ensure the all your doors are locked. Scammers sometimes work in two so whilst you are at the front door their accomplice will go round the back)

CHAIN - If you must open the door make sure the door chain is on.

CHECK - Always ask for an identity card. If in any doubt shut the door and leave them outside whilst you phone, a friend, family or the police. If they are genuine they wont mind waiting. Even in the police we are used to waiting whilst people check, its no problem and doesn't annoy us.

Remember if in any doubt at all don't open the door.
