Anti-social behaviour, Prince Of Wales Pier, Falmouth |
||
|
Community Members,
We appreciate that many of our local school students are respectful and a credit to our community.
This weekend, Falmouth town and particularly Prince of Wales Pier was subjected to large scale anti-social behaviour by students from schools in our community. The students congregated around the town and particularly the pier. The students involved have been under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, being abusive to members of the public, being violent towards each other, being violent towards members of public that challenged their behaviour and have also been abusive to officers that attended to deal with the ongoing anti-social behaviour.
This behaviour affects our whole community and will not be tolerated. We would like parents to talk to their children and not only know their whereabouts but to actively discourage this type of behaviour via discussion of the consequences. If the young people are involved and then prosecuted for offences like this, it can influence their life choices and it can prevent certain careers and even future travel options. We will not only look at prosecution but may consider imposing conditions using ASB legislation to control the company of those involved, and where they can and cannot go, to prevent re-offending. There will be a zero-tolerance approach to any anti-social behaviour.
No parent wants their child to have a criminal record. We therefore encourage you to speak to your child about potential consequences. We want our young people to enjoy their town, safely, respectfully and behave in a social manner so the whole community can enjoy Falmouth.
Falmouth Neighbourhood Team encourage any persons who experience anti-social behaviour, and anyone with information, to report this via our website or phone 101 in a non-emergency. Please phone 999 in an emergency. We aim to increase patrols where possible.
Regards
Inspector Rick Milburn
