To Arun West NHW members. This note explains where to find Sussex Police monthly crime data by area, type of crime and police priorities. In the note I have selected a Post Code within Yapton not because of high crime levels but because it is one of the numerous areas within Arun containing new housing developments and subsequently new members who may have not accessed the Sussex Police website. Select the Sussex Police website https://www.sussex.police.uk and the Home screen will open with two search boxes.Select the lower search box below the text “ What is happening in your area” and type in your post code eg BN18 0JX .The next screen, using the above post code, will open up showing Yapton . You will see “Your Neighbourhood Policing team” and a series of boxes beneath this heading starting with “About Us” and including “Meetings and Events” which has two meetings with your PCSO in Yapton Village Hall this February. The section below is headed “Crimes & Priorities ” which leads to "Top reported crimes in this Area" , “Crime Map” and “Our Priorities”Selecting “Crime Map” opens up a map of where the crimes occurred and the number of crimes.Drilling down on the numbers leads to maps showing more location details, type of crime etc.The neighbourhood police teams which are detailed in the “About Us” section make use of the crime map to identify Hotspots and give provide focus their police patrols and their frequency.
