Road safety in Mercia - working in partnership with Derbyshire County Council

Mercia Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) will be conducting visible road safety patrols throughout the local policing beat area today, (Sunday 1 February 2026).

Residents have continued to approach police about ongoing traffic congestion-related and utility-led works in our villages.

Yesterday, your local officer met with Councillor Matt Benfield, (pictured), representative for Repton and Stenson division at Derbyshire County Council, to discuss the problem.

Councillor Benfield explained that he is currently working with officers at the Highways Department to discuss the current situation, and he hopes to organise a public meeting in the future to enable residents to share their thoughts and views.

Once information is available about the meeting, a further Derbyshire Alert message will be issued to residents.
