Dulwich Wood Safer Neighbourhood Team – January 2026 Update
Good afternoon residents of Dulwich Wood,
As we move into the first month of 2026, the Dulwich Wood Safer Neighbourhood Team has been extremely busy working to keep our community safe and supported.
We are pleased to welcome PC Powley to the Dulwich Wood ward. PC Powley had been assisting Dulwich Village while they were temporarily short of an officer and has now officially joined our team. She brings valuable experience from working within schools and will be taking on the role of Schools Lead for the ward, strengthening our engagement and safeguarding work with young people.
At the beginning of the month, officers attended our Ward Panel Meeting, which proved very useful. It allowed us to review recent figures, discuss community priorities, and ensure our policing approach continues to reflect local concerns.
Crime Overview for January:
During the month, we recorded: Both incidents involved vehicles being broken into and items stolen, with one including the use of a key cloning method. We would like to remind residents of the importance of using Faraday pouches, which are highly effective at preventing keyless vehicle theft. Both vehicles were parked mopeds. Both incidents involved school-aged children around school finishing times and occurred at the start of the month. Following increased patrols and targeted work, we have not seen a further increase in robberies.
We have also successfully sent a male to court who was regularly shoplifting on the ward. He pleaded guilty, and the affected business was awarded compensation, providing reassurance to local retailers.
Throughout the month, officers have completed multiple vehicle and person stops across the ward to disrupt and prevent criminal activity. We also supported Dulwich Village ward with the arrest of a male recalled to prison, who had previously been linked to offences on Dulwich Wood ward, particularly motor vehicle crime.
Our team has attended numerous calls for service, working closely with partner agencies where required to safeguard vulnerable victims and provide reassurance within the community.
In response to youth safety concerns, we have increased patrols during after-school hours, focusing on transport hubs to reduce the risk of school children being targeted for robbery. Officers have also been liaising directly with local schools to prevent further incidents and address concerns early.
Finally, PC Wake, PC Powley and PC Comfort successfully completed their Officer Safety Training this month. This training is vital to day-to-day policing and ensures officers have the skills and confidence to keep themselves and the public safe while responding effectively to incidents.
Thank you for your continued support. Over the coming month, we will be booking further community engagement events, giving residents the opportunity to meet their local officers, ask questions, and discuss any concerns face to face. Details will be shared shortly via Met Engage.
If you have any concerns in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact your Dulwich Wood Safer Neighbourhood Team.
Kind regards, | ||
