The Neighbourhood Policing Team are aware of multiple reports throughout the week of people knocking on doors across South Holland, attempting to sell items without a pedlar's licence.
We understand this has caused some concern with several reports quoting “Nottingham Knockers.”
On Wednesday, 28 January, PC Pullen detained a 31-year-old man in Whaplode who has been reported for trading without a pedlar’s licence and awaits a court date for this case. We have also issued the man a Community Protection Warning Notice. A community protection notice stops a person aged 16 or over, business, or organisation committing anti-social behaviour which spoils the community’s quality of life. In this case prohibitions are in place to prevent access to any private driveway/dwelling without prior consent in South Holland.
Sgt Callum Corder said: “We need you to report instances like this to us as soon as possible so that our teams can get to the area and disrupt door to door sales which can often be intimidating or cause our community concern.
"We appreciate that our communities fear these cold callers believing they are the precursor to more serious crime which is why we took this action in this case. We remain dedicated to disrupting anti-social behaviour in South Holland.” If you have any information or concerns, please reach out. There are a number of ways you can do this:
