Adur & Worthing PoliceGood Morning Resident, A crackdown on waste crime saw partners stopping vehicles in Withy Patch, Lancing, this week. Sgt Tom Carter, Rural Crime Team, said: “One of the vehicles stopped was found to be about 1000 kilos overweight carrying scrap metal. The vehicle, believed to be without insurance, was seized and a fine issued. “We regularly carry out a multi-agency operation to clamp down on waste crime. “The Sussex Police Rural Crime Team, together with the Environment Agency, local authority, Sussex Police Commercial Vehicle Unit and the Driver Vehicle Standard Agency check licences and the condition of the vehicles from transit vans to HGVs. “We do this to tackle the illicit transportation and trade in waste, which goes on to prevent fly tipping and the deposit of waste at illegal waste sites.”
