Weekly update from the South Yardley Neighbourhood policing team. |

|
Dear Members, Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team. It has been another busy week for the team with more successful results. Last week the team have been busy with setting up the Business Watch meetings that both went ahead on 21st and 22nd January. This took place for both Yew Tree and Swan Centre and we gained more in attendance from the Yew Tree which was very positive for us all. Plenty of plans, concerns and issued were raised and the team are all aware of these. These will be further shared to partner agencies in the coming days to ensure those measures out of hands will be addressed. We have seen an influx in reporting of Shop theft, this is positive as more are reaching out to us for support and help but, this helps us identify patterns, people and behaviour and where we can disrupt this, we will do this. An example of this, 2 DNO officers on patrol in the Swan Centre located a situation whereby, stock was being recovered by management of a store. Right time, right place the suspect was detained, searched and out of court disposal was issued where stock was brought. This led us to taking them back home and confirming all details. This was a great result for the store and the team. During this, we are trying to keep you updated in quick time via our X page with more post’s activity on our page of what we are up to during the shift. This highlights the meetings, the community, proactive arrests, vehicles being seized or fined. We will be continuing this and if you have X please follow along and see the work we are doing on a daily basis. We assisted with CID and Stechford Neighbourhood team with a male wanted for a series of offences. He was arrested and charged with 26 shop theft offences in the Yardley area. This was great joint operational work as a whole. Stechford have applied for a Criminal Behaviour Order to prevent further community harm to our businesses and beyond. PCSO Bradley has been issuing tickets to all vehicle parking causing an obstruction or in a dangerous position. As a result, in one day, he issued 14 tickets in one section of our area. This is a daily occurrence for Olly and we want to reassure you we are doing everything we can with parking concerns in our area. If you do not see a ticket, this is because we no longer display these on the vehicle and we issue this electronically. Lovely surprise in the post! We are asking anyone driving and needing to park up to be considerate of other road users and pedestrians. Lastly, we have now another Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer on the team Zoe Dodd. Please welcome her along and do not be afraid to say Hello! All ready this week we have been issuing personal attack alarms to business staff when locking up of a night.
