Town centre shop closed following discovery of illegal tobacco products 

We've taken action to close Market Convenience Store on Market Street after illegal and counterfeit cigarettes and tobacco were found being sold from the premises.

Working closely with Staffordshire County Council Trading Standards and Staffordshire Police, an interim closure notice was issued on Monday 26 January, and on Wednesday 28 January, Cannock Magistrates' Court granted a three-month closure order to protect public safety and prevent further criminal activity.

This is the third town centre shop closed for selling illegal cigarettes and tobacco in the past seven weeks.

The sale of counterfeit tobacco is unlawful and poses health risks to our community. We'll continue working with our partners to keep Tamworth safe.
