police update: Community protection warning issued following reports

Dear residents,

On Thursday 29th January, officers issued a community protection warning (CPW) to a community interest company: We R Blighty, who are usually standing outside Tesco in Holland Park Avenue W11. Several reports were made from residents and businesses in Norland ward about aggressiveness and unprofessional behaviour by fundraisers.

A community protection warning is a formal written warning, which can be issued by police or council officers to individuals or businesses causing persistent, unreasonable and detrimental antisocial behaviour in a local area.  It serves as a final warning to stop the behaviour before a legal community protection notice (CPN) is issued. Breach of a CPN becomes in a criminal offence, leading to fines and arrest.

The following conditions has been dictated to We R Blighty business:
1.    Harassing and intimidating member of the local business community and/or member of the public.
2.    Accosting members of the public demanding/requesting donations
3.    Becoming abusive or shouting at member of the public, shop and venue staff and/or Kensington & Chelsea officers
4.    Obstructing the highway with equipment and/or personal belongings
5.    Obstructing Kensington & Chelsea Council officers exercising their power of seizure.
