Weekly Round-up! |

Good evening Resident,
It feels like it been a very long week on the city centre and It didn't seem to want to end, from community engagement to planned protests, lets get into what's been happening.
What’s Been Happening
Arrests – Another week with a decent amount of arrests made by city centre officers, and proactive policing work by our PCSOs. Various offences this week with individuals being arrested for rape, failing to appear at court, assault and assault on an emergency worker, and drink driving. Two arrests were made during the Night Time Economy for racially aggravated public order and during the day a prolific shoplifter was arrested, charged and bailed all on the same day. A combined effort by our PCSOs with them not only stopping two shoplifters and returning stolen goods to retailers which totalled over £350, but PCSO Spittle and PCSO Holmes stopped and detained a shoplifter at the exit to H&M. Upon searching the individuals bags with the help of plain clothed store and Mander Centre security it was found that they had stolen goods from not only H&M but also New Look and Boots. They were subsequently arrested by officers and taken into custody.
Community Engagement – Brilliant engagement this week at Wolverhampton College at our recruitment event, If you want to read more about that please head to my previous post i sent out where you can find all the details you need.
This week seemed to be the week of 'spur of the moment' events with us starting off Saturday lunchtime heading to Next in St Johns Retail Park for a surprise Cuppa with a Copper in Costa Coffee, it turned out very enjoyable with a few people taking time out of their busy schedule to talk with us. Team 1 PCSOs headed to Costa Coffee on Dudley street for their Cuppa with a Copper meeting which I've heard went quite well. And finally a small crime prevention stand was held within the Central Library during Tuesday evening, this timing gives us a great opportunity to talk to people that we wouldn't normally see due to them working. We love seeing you all come out to these sessions so please keep it up and we hope to see you at our next one.
Guardian Patrols – Nothing new with our patrols this week, very quiet as it has been quite cold. We continue to patrol around our ‘Hotspot’ areas, these include but are not limited to Dudley street, St Peters Gardens and the Bus Station.
Night-Time Economy – Low numbers throughout the weekend with minimal engagement, we wholly beleive this to be due to the cold weather and it being the week before payday for most people.
Other News - 3 of our city centre officers were sent out to the Birmingham vs Stoke match last week, it seemed fairly uneventful until full time where Stoke supporters had to be escorted to the train station to avoid any unnecessary trouble. A peaceful Kurdish protest took place and another protest during a council meeting, both went ahead without issue and didn't really need our involvement. Finally, in the early hours of Sunday morning an altercation at a nightclub led to a male having his jaw broken, and a van being driven from the scene and abandoned near to New Cross Hospital, Investigations ongoing.
