Today we’ve been out and about in the Creswell area delivering leaflets and speaking with residents as part of our partnership work with Stop Loan Sharks.
Stop Loan Sharks has highlighted concerns that illegal money lenders may be operating locally. These individuals often appear friendly at first, but they can trap people in a cycle of increasing debt, threats, and intimidation.
You might be dealing with a loan shark if:
The loan was offered informally or without paperworkYou’re being pressured, threatened, or intimidatedThe amount you owe keeps increasing even after you’ve paidYour bank card, passport, or other valuables have been taken as “security”You feel scared or unable to stop making payments
