||||
|
Hello Resident,
We hope you are well. Here is an update regarding crime and Police activity in Burbage this week.
Reported Crime and Appeals
Since our last update on the 23rd, Police have received 35 calls, 9 were emergency and 7 were priority calls. These calls were mainly domestic, concerns for welfare, or roads related.
Report of several incidents on Duport Road at 02:10 on the morning of Saturday 24th of January, where suspects have either made attempts, or have broken into sheds. If you have any CCTV in the area (around the alleyway leading from Hastings High down to Brookside or the general Duport Road area) please pop me an email. Darren.stretton@leics.police.uk 26000045730
Report of a theft of motorbike from Forryan Road. It is suspected this theft would also have happened around 02:00 on the morning of the 24th. The bike has been recovered. Again, any CCTV in this area, please take a look for the early hours of the 24th to see if there is any suspicious activity. 26000046145
Patrols, Police Activity and local engagement
We have continued work regarding patrols around school areas. This afternoon, we visited Sketchley Primary School and the Windsor Street area. We have issued several more fixed penalty notices. Our main point of focus are immediate school areas and junctions that are causing potential for accidents and back up of traffic. We also spoke to many motorists that were parked in places they shouldn’t be and requested they move. We will continue with these patrols as and when our duties allow.
These images are of todays vehicles where they have parked in areas that cause a danger to other road users and pedestrians. Tickets issued.
Crime prevention and issues to be aware of
Following on from our last message relating to rogue traders and door to door sales, a resident has been in touch regarding a cold caller offering household items such as dusters. These salespeople will often come from out of area and canvas areas for the day, selling items and earning a percentage from the sales. Tactics such as increasing the price, pushy and aggressive sales practices, and they often will give stories of recent troubles and how they are trying to “get their lives back on track”. Whilst the initial idea of some cheap items may be tempting, I would advise you not to engage.
We have also received further reports of a van with two males going around Burbage and other areas cold calling, offering roof repairs. Please DO NOT engage with these people. If you are being targeted and they continue to attend your property, please call Police and try to get a vehicle registration number if it is safe to do so.
Please continue to be aware of shed and garage security. Bicycles and Motorbikes appear to be getting targeted in the area. Whilst we are completing patrols, please ensure you are using PIR shed alarms, outdoor lighting and consider CCTV in your back garden. If you see any suspects with face coverings in the early hours of the morning, call 999 immediately.
Thank you and take care.
