Man arrested following incident in Brandon

A man has been arrested following an incident involving armed police in Brandon.

Officers were called before 10:10pm yesterday, Wednesday 28 January, to reports of a man making threats to harm himself and others at a block of flats in Yew Drive.

On police arrival the man made threats towards officers and threatened to harm himself.

Armed police, negotiators as well as ambulance and fire crew responded to the incident, which was safely resolved by 9am today, Thursday 29 January.

A man aged in his 30s was subsequently arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill and has been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Local residents can expect to see police in the area to provide reassurance and anyone with concerns is encouraged to speak with officers.
