Ipswich – Man arrested in serious sexual assault investigation |

A man has been arrested following a serious sexual assault in Ipswich this morning.
A woman aged in her 20s reported that she was walking along Tavern Street at approximately 3:15am today (Wednesday 28 January) when she was approached by a man who sexually assaulted her in an alleyway off Dial Lane.
A 19-year-old man from Ipswich has been arrested this afternoon on suspicion of rape.
He has been taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Detective Inspector Ben Rushmere said: “I understand the concern this incident will have caused in the community.
“Residents and visitors to the area will have seen an increased police presence in the area today and this will continue while our officers continue with their enquiries.
“We remain in the early stages of the investigation and would encourage anyone with information to please speak to police directly.
“We would urge members of the public to avoid online speculation, which can damage ongoing investigations.”
