Theft of Gully Grates

Good evening,

South Wales Police are currently investigating a recent spate of gully grate thefts that have taken place throughout January in several areas of Cardiff, including Fairwater, Danescourt, Llandaff, Llandaff North, and Whitchurch.

Enquiries are ongoing, and officers from South Wales Police are working closely with Cardiff Council to identify those responsible.

If you have any information that may assist the investigation — including CCTV or dash-cam footage — please contact South Wales Police on 101, quoting reference 2600028118.

If you witness a gully grate theft in progress, please do not approach the offenders. Instead, contact the police immediately with details of the location, a description of those involved, and any vehicle registration numbers if available.

We ask that members of the public remain vigilant when using highways and footpaths. Please be assured that Cardiff Council is actively working to make affected areas safe while the stolen grates are replaced.
