Burglary Near You -Wickham Avenue

Dear Resident

You are receiving this because you live in the vicinity of a burglary that occurred on Wickham Avenue on Monday 26th January, this occurred between 15:30hrs and 1740hrs the method of attack was by attempting to snap the lock of the cylinder lock allowing entry, the lock stayed in place but the door was then kicked in. 

VICTIM AND SUSPECT ARE STRANGERS. 2 SUSPECTS COME TO THE SIDE DOOR AND TRY PRYING LOCK TO NO GAIN. SUSPECTS THEN BREAK THE DOOR KICKING THE DOOR. SUSPECTS THEN DO AN UNTIDY SEARCH IN ALL ROOMS TAKING PASSPORTS AND CASH. SUSPECTS ALSO DAMAGE PROPERTY WHILST INSIDE SEARCHING. 

Firstly if you have CCTV or a doorbell camera please check it between Monday 26th January 1500hrs - 1800hrs to check if you had any activations. 

Secondly if you have a door with a cylinder lock (composite or UPVC doors mainly) please check the lock. 

Make sure you are satisfied with the rating and is fitted correctly. The locks we recommend have 3 stars written on the front (see image) and are TS007 or SS312 rated. Many firms offer these anti-snap locks. Whilst we do not wish to scare anyone, it is always good to review your own security, and report anything suspicious to the Police.
