Stonehouse Traffic Operation |
Good morning, I am really pleased to share the results from our latest operation with the Stonehouse Neighbourhood Team and our Roads Policing Team targeting traffic and e-bike concerns. This was a targeted traffic operation to focus on serious organised crime, speeding, the fatal 5 and anti-social behaviour.
We had a variety of results including three arrests for drug driving and drug supply offences. Seven traffic tickets were issued for offences including no insurance, using a mobile phone and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
The teams seized nine illegal E-bikes and one E-scooter (pictured below). One of these e-bikes could reach a speed of 68.9 mph without pedalling. If you are thinking of buying an e-bike please read up on the legalities of them. If your bike has a throttle or a push to go button the legal speed limit of these are 3.73mph or 6kmh without any pedal power. It should merely help you to walk the bike when pushing it, this is called ‘walk assist’.
