||
|
Good Evening to ..Resident Just a request to please have your say, and to submit your views, for a new Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to be implemented for Bentley Bridge, . If granted, it will give your local police more powers to deal with and “stamp out” ASB, which we have seen to increase recently. …. In January 2026, West Midlands Police and the City of Wolverhampton Council intensified efforts to address a "steady increase" in anti-social behavior (ASB) at Bentley Bridge Retail and Leisure Park , primarily involving large groups of youths. Active Proposals & Powers (January 2026) A public consultation is currently active (closing February 26, 2026) for a new Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) specifically for Bentley Bridge. If approved, it will grant police the following powers: Group Dispersal: Officers can ask groups of three or more people to leave the area if they are suspected of causing, or likely to cause, a nuisance. Face Covering Removal: Authority to require individuals to remove face coverings used to disguise identity, except for valid medical or religious reasons. Current Police Activity & Alerts High-Visibility Patrols: Wednesfield Police have maintained a constant presence at "hotspots," including the car parks and the area near McDonald's, to deter disruptive behaviour. Recent Incidents: Alerts have highlighted youths running through busy car parks, causing danger to drivers and pedestrians. In early January 2026, police also conducted searches at the nearby canal following safety concerns. Reassurance Engagements: Officers are frequently on-site at venues like The Nickelodeon pub to speak with shoppers and deter pickpockets. How to Report or Have Your Say PSPO Consultation: You can submit your views on the new police powers until 11:59 PM on February 26, 2026, via the Wolverhampton City Council Consultation Hub. Reporting ASB: Non-emergency incidents should be reported via West Midlands Police Live Chat or by calling 101. In emergencies, always dial 999.
