Princes Ward Burglaries |
||
|
Dear Resident
Kent Police have received a number of reports of Burglaries within the last 2 months within Princes Ward. All are residential, majority are back door break ins or rear windows smashed to gain entry. A few of the reports include only specific items being taken, these items are easy to carry items. I want to use this platform to reiterate the importance of keeping yourself safe and not disclosing to anyone where specifically, your valuable items may be stored.
We’re sharing this information so you can take simple steps to help keep your home secure: ✅Always call 999 in an emergency ✅If you see suspicious activity in your area, please call 999 ✅Make sure all windows and doors are locked when you leave the house, remove any door keys from the inside of the door and keep them somewhere safe. ✅Consider installing CCTV cameras at the front and back of your property if you do not already have them. All properties that have been broken into have not had any CCTV cameras. ✅If you do not feel safe, call 999 ✅Keep your mobile phone with you at all times and ensure it is sufficiently charged ✅Consider a house alarm ✅If you use a safe, ensure it is securely fixed to the wall or floor and locked, avoid storing all valuables in one place.
Your vigilance helps us keep the community safe. If you have any information about these incidents, please contact us via 101 or report online at the Kent Police website.

Burglary is a particularly invasive crime that can have a lasting impact on victims. If you have been a victim and need support and help, you should have been offered the services of Victim Support. You may have declined at the time, or not noticed the offer, but can refer yourself at any time by either calling 0808 168 9111 or visiting their website www.victimsupport.org.uk. Burglars do not want to get caught, so taking action to make your home or business premises safe and less attractive to thieves can go a long way to reducing the risk. Not all advice, or security products recommended are the same, or necessarily fit for purpose. If looking to take positive action to prevent yourself from being a victim of this type of crime, help and advice can be found on the Neighbourhood Watch website. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.kent.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org. | ||
