Rising Burglary Levels in Cann Hall area |
||
|
Dear Cann Hall Neighbourhood Watch Members
As a result of an increased level of burglary crime in the Cann Hall area, police and council have asked if Neighbourhood Watch can assist in notifying its members to be on the alert and take action to improve security on their homes and property if not already done so.
We have 23 residents listed on our database as members of NW in Cann Hall but I wonder if each of you could recruit at least one other resident onto the scheme, please? You may be part of a WhatsApp or local Facebook group and it would help greatly if you could also spread the word through these channels.
You can find a ton of information on the NW website www.ourwatch.org.uk about crime prevention such as outdoor security lights, cctv (now a very cheap option), secure locks on windows and doors, secure fencing particularly rear or side entry - thorny bushes are a really good deterrent, but most of all just looking out for suspicious behaviour or characters on your street.
Another visible deterrent is NW signage on street lamps and household rubbish bins - they give a first warning to potential wrongdoers.
For each of us it is incumbent upon us to make life difficult for the criminal to operate. We need to keep them on the back foot.
I’d like to call a meeting or the Cann Hall group to discuss ways and means of making the community safer and I wonder if any of you could help me organise that, please?
I’m contactable directly on walthamforestnhw@gmail.com or 07810 336641.
I look forward to hearing from and meeting you.
Yours sincerely James Phillips Scheme Administrator, Waltham Forest Neighbourhood Watch. | ||
