đź‘® A Message from Your Local Officer đź‘® |

Hello all,
It’s your local officer, PC Jamie Christian here 👮‍♂️
It’s been a little while since I’ve been able to share an update with you all. I had some unexpected time off over the Christmas and New Year period due to a family member being unwell. I believe I’ve now replied to everyone who got in touch while I was away — but if I’ve missed you, please feel free to send me an email or text and I’ll respond as soon as I can.
It’s been a busy return to duty, supporting colleagues at a serious injury road traffic collision in Southsea, carrying out nighttime economy patrols and attending local protests. The team and I have also been out and about in the Baffins area, patrolling and chatting despite the awful weather we’ve had lately. Speaking of Baffins, here’s a short update on what’s been happening locally:
Shoplifting 🛒 We continue to prosecute those shoplifting in our area. On Monday, two shoplifters on Hayling Avenue scooped themselves a treat… grabbing ice cream and washing detergent in a crime that was anything but clean. A bold combo, but things melted fast.
After swiping their goodies, they suddenly remembered security tags exist. Their bright idea? Smash the items against someone’s house wall — subtlety clearly wasn’t part of their fabric.
With the store calling it in and residents watching the world’s least stealthy criminals in action, they were found quicker than you can say “brain freeze” — or “extra spin cycle”.
Both were arrested, charged, and now await their day in court… hopefully ready to wash their hands of this behaviour.
Parking on Tangier Road / The Turning Circle 🚚 A resident has reached out about several tipper/removal vans parked along Tangier Road and the turning circle. While I haven’t identified any criminal offences at this stage, some of the vans aren’t registered locally and don’t appear to be used by residents.
I’ve reported this to all three of our local councillors and to Portsmouth City Council so they can take any action they see fit.
I don’t want the taxi issue to be resolved only for it to be replaced by these vans. The team and I will continue to patrol the area, but if you have any information or concerns, please get in touch with one of us.
College – Meeting and Attendance Next Week 🚲 I previously mentioned arranging a meeting with Portsmouth College in the new year regarding several pedal cycle thefts. That meeting has now taken place, and the College is looking at options to better secure bikes on site.
We have a strong working relationship and will continue to raise issues with them as needed.
PCSO 18817 TIVER will be attending the College on Wednesday for a pedal cycle marking event. If your son/daughter attends, encourage them to bring their bike along so we can mark it and register it with BikeRegister - The National Cycle Database | BikeRegister.
Scouts 🏕️ I’ve been invited to visit a local Scout group to talk about cyberbullying and staying safe online. I’m currently arranging a date with the leaders and hope to join them very soon.
If your children are part of the group, feel free to give them a heads‑up — we’ll be dropping by for a session, so they can start thinking about any questions they’d like to ask.
As always, please feel free to get in touch if you wish to discuss any issues or concerns that you may have.
