Blythe Crime Update 

Saturday 17th January – Sunday 25th January 

Vehicle crime:

Between Friday 23rd January and Saturday 24th January, Offenders have gained entry to 5 vehicles parked in Whitlocks End train station Car park, Tidbury Green. Offenders have smashed multiple windows and searched the vehicles for valuables. 

Burglary crime:

There have been no reports of any burglaries in your area.

Other reported crime:

Other crime reported are as follows: Criminal damage, Assaults and harassments.

Additional News:

We have received multiple reports of DISTRACTION THEFTS in the car parks of TESCO, MONKSPATH and SAINSBURYS, SHIRLEY. Offenders have approached members of the public who have recently put away their shopping trolley. Offenders have then approached victims and said that they have forgotten an item in the shopping trolley and escorts them to trolley. It is believed that while victim is distracted a second offender searches the open vehicle for valuables.

Thank you to the volunteers for their continuous patrols in Dickens Heath and Cheswick Green.

Vehicle crime prevention advice

To prevent vehicle crime, always lock your car, close all windows, and remove or hide all valuables. For extra protection, use physical deterrents like steering wheel locks, secure your license plates, and if you have a keyless entry vehicle, store your key fob in a signal-blocking pouch. Parking in well-lit areas can also help deter thieves. A steering wheel lock is a visible and effective deterrent that makes your car appear more difficult to steal. Use a signal-blocking pouch or box for your key fob when at home to prevent "relay" attacks where thieves amplify your key's signal. Fit a Thatcham-approved alarm or aftermarket immobilizer to make theft harder and consider a system that allows for real-time GPS tracking, which can help recover a stolen vehicle.

Burglary crime prevention advice

to prevent burglary, secure your home with strong locks, visible alarms, and exterior lighting. Make valuables invisible from windows, use timers for lights when away, and keep your property, including sheds and outbuildings, locked at all times. For added security, you can register items with serial numbers online. Always lock all doors and windows, even for short trips. Make sure side and back gates are also secure. Fit visible burglar alarms and motion-activated floodlights. Ensure doors and windows are burglar-proof, such as by using security-rated products also please do not leave ladders, garden tools, or other items outside that could be used to access windows. Keep shrubs trimmed so they don't block views of windows.
