Local Priorities Wildlife Crime Issues Update |
I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Wildlife Crime Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Police received a report of an organised, horse-mounted hunt with a pack of hounds operating in the area of Westwoodside, during which a fox and a deer were allegedly, actively pursued. This occurred Saturday 24/01/2026 around 2pm, and we are appealing for witnesses or anyone with any relevant information to contact police quoting log number 241 24/01/2026. Whilst trail hunting is a legal activity, the hunting of foxes and any mammal using dogs is illegal, unless one of a limited number of exemptions apply. If you ever experience this issue or have information regarding an incident, please report it using our online reporting tools at https://www.humberside.police.uk, speak to an operator in our Force Communications Room via our online web chat or call the non-emergency number 101.
Alternatively, you can stay 100 per cent anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
