Potential Rogue Traders

Dear Resident

Kent Police received 2 calls yesterday (Thursday 22nd January) to males posing as door to door salesmen trying to sell goods in Sheerness and Queenborough. The properties they appeared to be targeting were Bungalows where elderly residents live (Fleet Avenue, Sheerness & Foxley Close Queenborough) and offering sales of goods saying they were from a Prison Release Scheme and trying to sell items as part of a Project. 

We have identified one of these males who has previous convictions for distraction burglaries and uses a ‘door-to-door’ sales technique to enter properties. Checks have also been done and we are not aware of any official ex-offender selling schemes. 
Please be aware that although these people appear genuine with lanyards, they may be unscrupulous individuals looking to target vulnerable resident to get them to part with cash or enter their homes. If you have a family member, friend or neighbour who may be vulnerable to this kind of call, please make them aware of this and report any suspicious incidents to Kent Police.
