Prolific offender jailed for persistent vehicle crime |

A prolific offender, Michael Ainsworth, has been arrested yesterday, Monday 20th January 2026 by the Neighbourhood Support Team in Falmouth. He was remanded in police custody and for a total of 31 offences, sentenced to 12 weeks in prison. This was following a sustained pattern of criminal activity involving vehicle theft, vehicle interference and other theft-related offences. Ainsworth committed these offences across Falmouth, targeting parked vehicles and exploiting opportunities where security measures were limited. The offending caused significant disruption and financial loss to victims and generated concern within the local community. Following a detailed investigation by Falmouth Neighbourhood Team, Ainsworth was made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order also. PC Nick Jones, of Falmouth Neighbourhood team said: “This individual’s persistent offending had a real impact on local residents. This outcome reflects our commitment to tackling vehicle crime and bringing repeat offenders before the courts. We would also like to thank members of the public who reported suspicious behaviour, which played a key role in this investigation.” Police continue to encourage residents to take steps to protect their vehicles and to report any suspicious activity promptly.
