Burglary reported in South Drive, Sutton Coldfield. |
||
|
Dear Resident. What has happened? Between 4.30, and 7.15pm on Tuesday the 20th of January 2026 unknown offenders have forced entry to a property in South Drive, Sutton Coldfield via a rear upstairs bedroom window. The window has been forced by unknown means, damaging the frame, and causing the lock to snap. Entry was gained via the bedroom window, the offender(s) have left muddy footprints on the carpet, and conducted an untidy search of the property. The offender(s) have then left the property via the kitchen patio doors that open onto the garden. What are we doing? Officers attended the scene, it was confirmed that the offender(s) had left the location. Opportunities for forensic examination were identified, and passed to the relevant department. House to house and cctv enquires were conducted to gather any additional evidence. What can you do? Please ensure your property is secure, including entry points to rear gardens. If your property is empty during the hours of darkness use a timer switch, or app based system to turn lights on. This helps the property look occupied and can deter offenders. If an alarm system is fitted , set it when going out. More crime prevention advice can be found by visiting www.westmidlands.police.uk
