New messaging portal for victims of crime launches

We have launched a new service that will allow victims of crime to send and receive messages with the officer in charge of their case.

South Yorkshire Police is the first force in the country to launch the National My Police Portal (NMPP) which went live this afternoon (20 January).

We have launched the portal to improve the service that victims of crime receive and provide another avenue of contact between them and those investigating their report.

The portal encompasses 19 crime types including burglary, fraud, violence with injury, theft, arson, and robbery.

When you report an eligible crime such as those listed above, you will be sent an email or text invitation from PoliceUK to the official GovUK One website.

This is a secure website and once you have signed into your portal account you will be redirected to the South Yorkshire Police website.

You do not have to sign up to the portal, and you will still be updated on your case if you choose not to.

It is a supplementary service and if you choose to use it, you are not opting out of other ways of speaking to us. You will still be able to ask for an officer to call you should you require it.
