Possible Bogus distraction caller - visitors |
||
|
Hi there, we recently had a person calling at an address off Ditchfield Road saying he was from Scottish Power, who confirmed they did not have anyone in the area at that time. The person, suspected to be a bogus/distraction caller, was described as being very pushy and asked if he could use the occupant's toilets. Most visitors to your home will be genuine but sometimes people turn up with the intention of tricking their way into people's homes. If you are not sure who is at your door, you don't have to open it. Check any identification shown to you by visiting official websites of the company. You can always check with nearby friends, family or neighbours if maybe they can visit you to check before opening any doors. Do not allow people into your house no matter how nice and genuine they may seem without double checking everything. If you suspect a bogus caller has visited you, even if you didn't let them in, call the police straight away. We need to know so we can try and get them checked out and possibly prevent further such incidents. Call us on 101 if you have any concerns or want further advice etc from local beat officers.
