DON'T PLONK IT! - PARK IT! |

|
Don't Plonk It – Park It!" is a West Midlands Police (WMP) initiative targeting inconsiderate pavement parking. Neighbourhood teams, including those in Wednesfield & Heath Town, use WMnow to alert residents when obstructive parking is reported and to remind drivers of their responsibilities. Message Contexts Safety Risks: Messages emphasize that obstructing pavements is "extremely dangerous" for visually impaired individuals and people with pushchairs. Enforcement Action: In September 2025, WMP teams in the Black Country warned drivers that "being ditzy is no excuse" for parking that blocks pushchairs, with some vehicles being seized if found to have other violations like no tax or insurance. The "Polite Notice": Officers frequently place advisory leaflets or "polite notices" on windscreens to raise awareness before moving to formal enforcement. How to Respond to Obstructions If a vehicle is "plonked" in a way that forces a double pushchair into the road: Report to Local Council: Councils are typically responsible for parking enforcement, especially regarding dropped kerbs. Report to Police: If a vehicle is causing a physical obstruction on the highway or pavement, it can be reported as antisocial behaviour via the WMP website. Operation Snap: You can submit photo or video evidence of dangerous parking directly to the police through Operation Snap. Wednesfield & Heath Town Resources WMnow Alerts: Residents in these areas are encouraged to sign up for WMnow for direct updates on local parking patrols and community concerns. Local Policing: You can view current priorities and contact the Wednesfield & Heath Town neighbourhood team Kind regards again Ian PCSO 30536
