Crime Prevention Advice Preventing Doorstep Parcel Theft
For residents / recipients
Delivery options - Redirect parcels to local collection point or post office - U se leave with neighbour or nominate a safe place that is hidden from view - Choose signature - required delivery for valuable items - track deliveries and be home when possible
At home - Avoid leaving parcels visible on the doorstep or in communal areas - install a secure parcel box or lockable delivery container - Use CCTV , video doorbells or motion- sensor lights - Keep front gardens and entrances well lit and clear of hiding actions
Community actions - Get to know neighbours and accept parcels for each other - Join or set up a neighbourhood whatsapp/ watch group - Report suspicious behaviour promotly Online habits - Avoid advertising deliveries on social media - Check retailer settings for delivery instructions
IF A PARCEL IS STOLEN
- Report it to the retailer and delivery companay immedietly - Report to the police and obtain a crime reference number - Share details ( time , description , CCTV images if available ) with local SNT
