Good News Stories

The team wanted to share the good news stories that have occurred in the local area over the last week, following the work the team has been doing. This is the work that the teams of Beckenham Town and Copers Cope, Clock House, Kelsey and Eden Park and Shortlands and Park Langley have been a part of.  

This week the teams have continued working alongside the met volunteers around the  Shortlands and Kelsey wards, delivering Met Engage leaflets and engaging with the community. This has been a great opportunity to get members of the community involved with some of the work we are doing. The four teams have conducted vehicle stop sights across the wards. Local officers were out on the wards conducting a road safety operation, several drivers were being randomly stopped to see if they had the correct documentation. One driver was processed for no insurance and their vehicle was seized. The teams aim to conduct these operations monthly in order to tackle vehicle crimes. 

Our school’s team have conducted school visits at Harris Academy Beckenham to give talks on “driven by consequences”. More visits will be conducted around the schools over the coming months. 

Officers were on patrol and responded to a call regarding a male who was heavily intoxicated and was being verbally aggressive towards members of the public. The male was detained and arrested for Drunk and Disorderly conduct and possession of cannabis, the male was then taken to custody and given a fine for both offences. 

A community engagement event has been planned for members of the public to speak with local officers and get their phones/bikes marked, this makes them easily traceable should it be stolen. This event will be on the 28th February 2026 on Beckenham Green, further details to be announced.
