Road Safety issues - Long Riston & Arnold |
||
|
Good evening all,
Today I have carried out speed checks in Long Riston outside the school at leaving time, on Whin's Lane and Catwick Lane. A couple of drivers on Catwick Lane were given the finger wag as they were over 30mph, but not dramatically so, but today - and I accept that might have been something to do with the yellow clad figure with the speed gun - the vast majority of drivers were at or under 30mph in the village.
That said, 30mph looks like light speed on Main Street. You may have seen my Facebook post on Humberside Police - East Riding of Yorkshire South. I firmly believe that 20mph would be more appropriate on Main Street, at all times of day and night, and will be speaking to ERYC to see if this is a possibility. Alternatively, the Safer Schools scheme may be worth considering. I will liaise with your parish council and ERYC over this idea.
As some of you have done, please do not hesitate to contact me by replying to this message. If I don't know the answer, I will find out, and if I can solve your problem, I will.
Kind regards to all
