Another knife taken off the street!

On 18th January 2026, officers from C Relief Town Hall NBO team conducted proactive patrols across the Deansgate Ward as part of ongoing efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour. Their attention was drawn to a group of youths on Quay Street who were suspected to be engaging in drug-related offences, and despite trying to make off from officers they were swiftly detained for a stop search. 

Following this one of the youths was found in possession of a large lock knife and subsequently arresting on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon. The youth was taken into custody and later charged with possession of an offensive weapon. He has now been bailed with conditions not to enter the City Centre unless accompanied by his mother.

We remain dedicated to tackling serious and violent crime, and will continue to take dangerous weapons off the streets of Manchester.
