Stanley Neighbourhood Policing – Weekly Update This week, our officers have been busy working to keep Stanley safe and connected with the community. Insecure load On Wednesday South Moor Neighbourhood Police stopped an HGV driving slowly along a dual carriage way due to having an insecure load. The unsafe vehicle was in danger of shedding large pieces of sheet metal on to vehicles and the road. A ticket was issued to the driver and the load was secured before completing his journey. Community Protection Warning Issued Officers have arrested a male for wasting police time after he made multiple reports to police which were proven to be false. This male was also issued with a CPW due to ongoing issues within the community. Untaxed Vehicles Stanley NPT received reports of untaxed vehicles on Chester Road from a members of the community. Officers conducted a joint visit with the DVLA and located several untaxed vehicles. The DVLA have commenced proceedings for these vehicles. School Parking Issues PCSO Greener has been at South Stanley Infants and Junior school, and East Stanley School, providing a visible presence and ensuring vehicles are parked correctly when dropping children off at school. He has had to provide words of advice to several parents for parking on the yellow road markings outside of the school. Please remember to park safely. Off-road bikes and Electric Bikes - Catchgate and Stanley Town Centre Following a report from a member of the public about an electric bike being ridden around the Catchgate area, a Traffic 183 warning was issued to the known individual, and he was issued words of advice regarding any further issues. Patrols have also been conducted in relation to reports of several off-road bikes being ridden around Stanley town centre. Despite several sightings, the bikes made off on officers’ arrival. Vehicle thefts Local patrols across Stanley and Consett have been conducted in relation to the recent high volume of vehicle thefts. Stanley NPT assisted Consett NPT with the location of a vehicle which was involved in a pursuit in the Consett area. The vehicle was later located, and the driver/owner has been reported for the offences. Shoplifting Well known Shoplifter Callum Ansell has been charged with further shoplifting offences and he is to be issued with a CBO (Community Behaviour Order). Several other shoplifters have been arrested and charged.
