Yateley Common, Blackbushe and Castle Bottom

Good morning! 

For as long as I’ve been in the Police (I joined as a PCSO here in 2015) we’ve had a problem with nuisance vehicle use on our common land. Pretty much everyone who enjoys Yateley Common, Blackbushe and Castle Bottom for exercise, birdwatching, socialising, and all manner of leisure, has experienced a motorbike flying past them at some point.  

Sometimes that’s the end of the incident. Sometimes the motorbikes hang around. Sometimes, the incident escalates and people get hurt.  

We’ve heard it all.  

And that’s why we’re starting early this year.  

Our vehicle nuisance issue runs all year round, however we know from reporting patterns that the problems increase with the weather getting better. So even though we know that we won’t see a large amount of reporting until spring, it’s important that we get ahead of this to try and attack the problem before we’re receiving regular reports every weekend. 

So how has it affected you? 

I’m looking for as many people as possible to tell me how it makes a difference to their lives. Have you been affected by a motorbike flying past you at the weekend? Has it scared your dog, your child, your loved ones? Have you been set on before by motorbike riders after you’ve challenged them on their behaviour? 

We don’t need an essay – just a quick reply, a comment, a blurb, on how this issue affects you and your family here in Yateley, Blackwater and Hawley. I’ll then put it all together, the stats, the figures, the comments, to show the agencies who can help the affect it has and get to work trying to fix it. 

It goes without saying, please continue to report any incidents so that we can deal with it at the time. However by telling us how this affects you, we’ll have the time and the resources to truly attack the issue and get our partners on side to help.
