Vehicle Crime Prevention & Request for Information

We are seeing an increase in incidents involving both theft of motor vehicles and theft from motor vehicles. Please take a moment to follow the crime‑prevention advice below and help us keep the community safe.

PROTECT YOUR VEHICLE

1. Lock Up Every Time

Always lock doors and windows, even when parked at home.

Never leave your vehicle running unattended—for example, when defrosting it.

Double-check that your vehicle is locked before walking away.

2. Remove Valuables

Do not leave items such as bags, electronics, cash, or tools on display.

Empty your glove box or leave it open to show nothing is inside.

3. Secure Your Keys

Keep keys out of sight and away from doors or windows.

Consider using a signal-blocking pouch for keyless entry fobs.

4. Park Smart

Use well-lit, busy areas or secure garages whenever possible.

5. Extra Security

Consider fitting an approved steering lock or wheel clamp.

Installing a vehicle tracker or alarm system can provide added protection.

HELP US TACKLE VEHICLE CRIME:

If you notice any suspicious behaviour or vehicle-related concerns, please report it to us. Information from residents is vital and can make a real difference.

When reporting, please include as much details as possible, such as:

Location

Vehicle registration (VRM)

Description of what was suspicious

Time and date

Description of suspects (clothing, build, height, etc.)

Direction of travel

Any CCTV, Ring doorbell, or dashcam footage available

This information can be reported to the Metropolitan Police via:

Non‑emergency: 101

Emergency (crime in progress or immediate danger): 999
