Intercepted Online Purchases |
||
|
Good morning,
Recently there has been an increase in Border Force intercepting online packages containing stun guns disguised as flashlights bound for delivery to our local communities.
These are items being purchased through websites such as TEMU and other online retailers based out of the UK. These websites do not make it clear that items such as these are illegal to own in the UK and also illegal to import into the country.
Despite this, because these websites operate outside the UK, they will continue to take your money and send the item regardless. However, these packages are routinely x-rayed by our Border Force colleagues and promptly intercepted if they are found to contain prohibited items.
Should you purchase items such as these online, not only will you never receive them and potentially not have your money refunded, you may also run the risk of being convicted of offences under the Customs and Excise Management Act 1979.
It is believed that these recent purchases were not made maliciously, but rather due to a lack of understanding of UK laws. Therefore, I ask you not to purchase these items, and if you are unsure about something, seek advice from police or a legal professional first.
If you do wish to purchase personal safety equipment which is legal in the UK, I suggest you visit GETPERSONAL.CO.UK. This website is UK based and have researched all their items to ensure they comply with UK law.
Thank you.
