Local Priorities Road Safety Issues Concern Update

I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Road Safety Issues, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey.

Officers were on patrol yesterday at Pennoweth Primary School for the end of the day pick up. It was really alarming to see that people were driving on the pavements to pass one another from DRUMP ROAD down towards the Rugby Club. This is completely unacceptable and we will be attending with civil enforcement officers to try and curb this behaviour.

We are going to work closely with the school to promote the correct use of car seats and seatbelts. Officers present had to intervene with one drive who had a toddler in the back seat standing up. The school have been liaised with and we are going to promote partnership working with them and parents to ensure that this is not a repeat incident. Wherever car seats are purchased from are more than happy to demonstrate to people how they are fitted. Ill-fitted car seats will NOT protect anyone in a road collision.

If you see officers present at school patrols please engage with them. They are there for everyone's safety and wellbeing.
