Dear Resident, As a result of community intelligence, officers from Wakefield Central NPT simultaneously executed a series of warrants earlier this week in flats located within Greenwood House, Wakefield.
Concerns were first raised due to incidents of ASB followed by the attendance of unexpected visitors into the complex. Following a short period of intelligence gathering, officers were successful with applications to Leeds Magistrates Court and Warrants were obtained under the Misuse of Drugs Act and executed on Tuesday 13th January.
During the operation, a man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking and production offences – all Class A – they were detained at Havertop Lane Police Station and are now on conditional bail. A quantity of drugs and drug producing paraphernalia were located and seized. A second female who was wanted for theft offences, was also arrested from the scene.
Inspector Paul Fraser, Wakefield Central NPT said: “This is further evidence that we will always take positive action when the residents of our community share information with us. “You said We did.” You told us and we acted. Local intelligence sharing is paramount if we are to continue to make Wakefield an even safer city and I feel fortunate that so many of our residents have faith and confidence in their NPT officers. The success of our operational activity can rely on actionable intelligence, and I would urge people to always share what they know and see.”
Information can be passed on to us in a number of ways, this includes: our numerous contact points, online via the WYP reporting forms, Crime Stoppers and by just stopping an officer when out patrolling the community.
