I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Violent Crime, which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Police are appealing for information after shots were fired in the car park of Lewsey Sports Park and Pool in Pastures Way, Luton, at around 10pm on Friday 19 December. Thankfully, no one was injured, but the incident has caused understandable concern in the local community. Detectives launched a major investigation, named Operation Origins, to identify those responsible and keep our streets safe. To date, six men have been charged in connection with the incident, and they are remanded in custody pending a further court date this month. We believe there are three unidentified people who were in the area at the time and riding Sur-Ron e-bikes similar to the one pictured, who may have vital information that could help us. If you saw these individuals or may know who they are, please come forward. Detective Inspector Patrick Allerton, from the Boson team, said: “Incidents involving firearms are extremely serious and we know how worrying this will have been for residents. Our dedicated Boson team is working tirelessly to tackle gang and gun-related violence. We need the community’s help to identify everyone linked to this incident and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.” If you have any information – no matter how small – please report it online at beds.police.uk/ro/report or call 101 quoting Operation Origins. You can also share details anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
