Theft from Motor Vehicle

Dear Resident

I wanted to inform you that within the past 2 weeks, there has been three reported incidents whereby resident's vehicle's have had items removed from within (Theft from Vehicle), and two reports where vehicle doors have been attempted to be opened (Interference with a motor vehicle).

These incidents have occurred on Wheatleys, The Ridgeway and Harrier End.

It appears the material times all include periods of time during the night.

Centre consoles, compartments under the arm rest and the ash-tray areas have had money / change removed. A glove box and boot have also been searched through.

As a reminder, please ensure you lock doors and shut windows/sunroof when leaving your vehicle unattended.

Further Tips to prevent vehicle crime:

Always remove keys from the ignition when you are not with the vehicle

When parking, remember to set your immobiliser or alarm or use an approved steering lock or gear lever clamp.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle – not even in the glove box or boot – and keep all possessions out of sight – even coats, sunglasses and carrier bags.

Remove your satnav and holder and wipe away suction marks which could indicate that a satnav is stored in your vehicle.

Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them lying around, visible or in pockets in changing rooms where they could be taken. Don’t leave them visible on a windowsill or near to your front door, where they could be “hooked” through the letterbox.

If you have a keyless entry car use a signal blocking bag and consider using additional trackers and steering wheel locks.

Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car.

Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
