Hello Resident,

Your voice matters in making our community safer. Over the past six months, the Letchworth and Baldock Neighbourhood Policing Team has been working hard to tackle the illegal use of off-road motorcycles and electric bikes—a problem that affects safety, peace, and quality of life for everyone. 

Thanks to your reports, we’ve already seized 11 illegal bikes, and we’re seeing a clear reduction in calls about this issue. Every report you make helps us take action and make a difference. Some of the bikes seized have been adapted pedal bikes, which have been tested to achieve speeds in excess of 60 mphs - often with no braking system!

We’ve also secured funding from the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office to introduce SelectaDNA spray kits. These innovative tools allow officers to mark illegal bikes without physical confrontation, reducing the risk of injury to riders, officers, and the public. You may have noticed new signs across North Herts—these are part of our commitment to deter offenders and protect our community.
